 The David Family History

EARLY YEARS

Our patriarch, Isaac Adolphus David, Sr., was born in the late 1800's in the United States. Though the specifics of his birthplace are still being investigated, we know that he was a part a family of seven (7) that emigrated from the US to Liberia, West Africa.

Historical ship manifests show that Isaac was 5 years old when his family boarded a ship named the "Liberia" in New York, NY on October 31, 1891. The family was recorded as being from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA and Methodist in religion.

The ship's manifest listed the following biographical data:

Samuel David - age 33, father | Maggie David - age 28, mother

Children:  Tempie - 10 | Paul - 9 | Mattie - 7 | Isaac - 5 | Frederick - 3

The family initially settled in Johnsonville, Liberia with other fellow immigrants from Little Rock.
